Description of the Anse Fourmi Estate:
Magnificently located on the sheltered Caribbean Sea in the accessible yet remote, undiscovered Tobago, the L'Anse Fourmi Estate is a Caribbean Gem of lush tropical forested hillsides gently sloping down to perfect sandy beaches surrounded by a charismatic turquoise sea. The Estate is situated adjacent to one of the oldest protected national parks in the world (older than Yellowstone) filled with a great variety of exotic birds and wildlife, and it is also close to Tobago's famous popular dive sites and undiscovered pristine coral reefs and ancient shipwrecks.
This property is the only beachside property on this coastline between Bloody Bay and Man O'War Bay. It has over three miles of scenic coastline, numerous pretty coves, dramatic cliffs and bluffs, and 3 sandy beaches.
The beaches are surrounded by protective reefs, the largest beach protected by a 500 foot-long forested headland, and the smaller beach protected by a natural rock & coral reef with wonderful snorkelling, all are perfectly safe for swimming and watersports.
The whole coastline of this property has excellent and interesting views of the nearby Brothers Rocks and offshore Sisters Islands to the west with the added feature of unobstructed views of the setting sun.
The 300-acre estate is one of few unspoilt properties in an area of outstanding natural beauty beneath the high ridge of the Protected Tropical Rainforest.
Several clear streams and rivers flow through the property which is forested with mature Mahogany, Cedar, Samaan, Corote, Nutmeg and occasional Teak trees. These tall trees and vegetation have been completely undisturbed for over 30 years due to the nature of the type of agriculture that was practised on a small area of the estate; the growing of Cocoa. This crop required the retention of the covering tree canopy to shade the short Cocoa trees, with some planting for additional shading, of attractive flame red and yellow flowering Poui, Immortelle and Flamboyant trees.
The minimal clearance of undergrowth to facilitate the planting of the Cocoa is now undetectable as the estate was abandoned over 30 years ago for agricultural or other purposes.
Little remains of the ruined wooden estate buildings at the base of the headland, but the Estate Service Road that was cut down to the main beach area from the Northside main-road will be relatively easy to clear and reinstate for vehicular access.
The junction of the Estate Service Road with the Northside road remains deliberately blocked to protect the estate from any unauthorised logging, hunting of wildlife, removal of sand or poaching of nesting turtles from the beaches.
This has succeeded in conserving the ecology of the estate from any damage and maintained it in a pristine state.
Outline Planning Permission has already been granted for Change of Use of the L'Anse Fourmi Estate from Agricultural use to that of a Holiday Resort and Villa Development. The Estate has been surveyed and divided into 6 large Plots, A - F, by Alpha Engineering & Design Ltd., Trinidad & Tobago.
The Estate is well
provided for utility connections:
Two (2) 3-phase electricity pylons supporting HT supply lines are situated on the estate and 110v and 220v supply lines are being installed along new main road through the estate.
Ample fresh water supply is available from the recently refurbished public supply and new storage facilities located in the village, as well as the Estate's own water supply reservoir and treatment facility (disused former WASA installation) fed by a natural hillside spring situated on plot E adjacent to the Estate's citrus grove containing mature grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime trees.
